rikard.me/blog/000.txt Sun 28 Nov, 2021 A Review of Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster If you're tired of RPGs being too challenging, this game is for you. The combat is too easy. You almost instantly out level any new zone that you enter, making all remaining combat within that zone trivial. You will rarely have a reason to not use auto-combat. Any combat not involving a boss feels brain dead and is more tedious than it is rewarding. Killing enemies and looting chests will rack you up with a near-infinite amount of money, meaning you will never struggle to keep a full stack of pots and revive kits on you at all times. It removes the challenge of delving into a dungeon when you know that no matter how much you mess up a fight, you can always revive your party members and heal to full. There's very little at stake. This game is carried entirely by its soundtrack and its Zelda-like exploration. There is no hand-holding in terms of progressing the story. You either engage with the world or you struggle to move forward. Despite its shortcomings, it's still a pretty good game, and I had fun playing it. It's been around in various versions for almost 40 years at this point, and there's very clearly a reason for it.
